i just put a serp system in my 1983 grand prix wth sbc v8... i need some help wiring alternator from old si alternator to cs alternator i see some web sites but not to sure which way is correct i have gauges inside that are factory i do not have a charge light just analog gauge

There is a CS to SI alternator wiring adapter. It is available from several sources. It has a GM and AC Delco partnumber. The GM part number for a vehicle with factory gauges is 12102921, and the AC Delco number is 8078. Hope this helps.

10-ohm 10-15w resistor wired in series with the brown wire that originally went to the plug on the si alternator, plugs into the new one. The red wire you don't need on the CS unit.
