I purchased a used converter off of craigslist and was told it was a B&m holeshot 2400 (2300-2500) stall. I have no stall off of the line and my car is a complete dog. I was thinking about upgrading to a larger converter because i believe this stall is too small...Here is my combo

3200 lb malibu
373 gear
9.4:1 compression
287/305 duration (2200-6100 range)
turbo 350 trans

Would the holeshot 3000 be a good converter for my application? (2800-3200)
Its just not any fun having this nice car with a not so hot launch. Car is street only

What size engine and do you have any other cam specs other than advertised duration?
I personally would never buy a used torque convertor unless I know the person and the history of the part.

The engine is a 355 sbc. Headers, intake, shp dart 180cc heads. Cam specs .489 lift .476 ex. (.235 in .249 ex at .50deg) cam range = 2200-6100.

is there such thing as a half working converter? car shifts fine and runs as it should other than the launch. im putting out around 330 hp at the wheels. thanks for the help, kyle

Not a big fan of B&M. Like 565 I would not buy a used converter unless I KNOW the seller. Ehh pig in a poke. No converter guru but I would get a 3,000 stall lock up converter from a reputable source or reputable converter company. Assuming you are trying to use this as a street car and that you are either useing 200-4R, 700-R4, or at least a th350 that can use a lock up converter. That cam looks like it would benefit from a little more actual measured calculated compression but should work ok with the rest of the combo.

I used a mac compresson tester and i tested a 9.4:1 compression. what brand of converter are you suggesting? I was looking to buy a new b&m not a used one. I really just dont want to fork out a $700 converter unless i have to. but i do understand quality over price. i just want a harder noticeable launch than what im working with right now.

Also not a b&m fan. After one bad one for me and one grenaded and took out my dad's th350 and the replacement had a weld that blew through, we don't go with b&m anymore. Take a look at Hughes. Brand new $300 converter and it is a nice product with good quality.
