Ever since I sold the E350 cargo/camper van last year my wife keeps begging me to get a campervan again. So as luck goes and me not having enough projects and work, I could get my hands on a '94 Ford E350 ex-Ambulance with the 7.3 natural aspirated Diesel. This should be the IDI variant.
The Ambulance is a SRW mini-mod, completely gutted by the PO and would suit my needs perfectly.
I do know the E-Series platform, but not the Diesel. Do we have 7.3 knowledge on this board?

Interesting, I almost got one 20 years ago for a work truck. One positive thing about getting an ex ambulance is they generally got very scheduled maintenance during service years. Sorry I don't know more on the diesels, but I do know the old 7.3's were considered some of the better & more reliable diesels sold under ford name.
Is there something specific you want to know? I know a few people locally that may have some info.

Don't really think you need to know anything about them. They just seem to run and run and run with the most basic of maintenance.

Now, where are all the photos?

I already know that the IDI 7.3 are good for half a million+ miles when maintained well. This one served duty in Amsterdam and has a whooping 230k km's on the clock. I just need a heads up what to look for on the 7.3 in general.

What I like is the side doors on both sides and the passenger side having windows in the door and quarter, as well as the back doors with sliding windows.

I don't expect a 8800lbs/180hp mothership to roll up the tarmac, so I can live with a gutless wonder.

Only real issue with the 7.3 I had for 102,000 miles was Injector O-rings at about 300,000 miles. Everything else was just normal maintenance. Chassis parts at 300,000+ is another matter
