My old girl is coming apart. Going to address things under the body while I can, before a cage goes in. Body mounts and rust inhibiting mainly.

I've read numerous threads of users suggesting soaking the mount bolts in penetrating oil for days to keep them from breaking or the nuts from breaking loose from the cage.

My only reply to that is....how?

There are are a couple of mounts that are easy to get to and spray. But some are completely enclosed (the nuts that is). How do you manage to even get anything to them to soak? Is cutting access holes the only way?
Or is there some access I'm missing?

It's a wagon btw, if that changes anything.
Thanks guys

You can drill a small access hole for the penetrant to get in there. The other problem is the shaft of the bolt rusting away to nothing; it can be as small as 1/4" which will snap on the first twist.

I´ve had a set of body mounts from EnergySuspension. Is there really no replacement kit for the bolts and nuts?
That was the big question i had for myself before selling the Body Mounts again.

I am not sure about the later ones but I just did this on my 70. Broke every single bolt. The ones that didn't break spun in the cage first. Then when I could get at them to hold with a wrench, they then snapped.

If they're the orig rubber mounts they may have compressed over the years. You may be able to raise the body a smidge (enough to get the straw in) and spray them down. Honesty, if the cages are rusted and weak they may break when you try to torque the new bolts down. The bolts on mine were so rusted that they were frozen together. After cutting them out it took a wire wheel to the threads and a torch to unscrew them.

Now realize: my back body mounts were a rusted hunk of poo. The one torque box floor (where those cages are) fell apart when I was doing mine. If the body is in good shape you should fair way better.

I'm sure if you know the sizes you can probably purchase them from Fastenal.
I bought mine from the local "stealership".

There are 3-different bolt sizes.

*Position#1-uses GM p/n 10049638- 2-needed size is 12 x 1.75 x 95mm long. 95mm is not common so you use the next size up 100mm. (sold each)

*position#3- uses GM p/n14085301- 2-needed. (Sold in packages of 5.) Size is 10 x 1.5 x 55mm long.

*position#2,4,6,7 uses GM p/n3524497 -8-needed- (sold in packages of 5) size is 10 x 1.5 x80mm long.
Again, that's if you wish to go that route.

As was mentioned, Kirban sells a set. https://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/15/FACTORY+STYLE+BODY+MOUNT+BOLTS+(12)+KIT+#6974.html

If the bolt snaps I jack up that section, pull out the old rubber mount.

Then use a stud remover to get the rest of the bolt out.

China brand ones are pretty cheap and do the job well

I appreciate all the replies fellas. I really do.

So if the nut breaks out of the cage, what do you guys do about installing new ones?

Prob easiest way is cut round access holes from inside the car over the cage nut and nut and bolt the thing back together. Then you can use a rubber body plug to seal the access hole.

I did it this way (granted I had some bad rust issues):
