Yes. Rivet must be removed, then reinstall a new rivet when reassembling. The rivet pulls it tight up against the trunklid effectively smooshing (technical term) the gasket in between.Has it on my 88 MCSS....crusty but it's mostly there. Do you have to drill out that rivet to replace it?
You can still buy the rivet 9441669 from GM. For around $7.20 list price. YUP. Crazy crap. I'm sure you can get one from somewhere else for cheaper.Sounds to me you should contact some of the g body parts companies and sell them for possible profit. There’s a guy in Keene NH that does repop screws for Mopar’s and can’t make them fast enough. They are not a common screw to find so…And if you do a gasket and rivet kit well 😏
I've found $6 shipped from one of the few dealers if you bought 5 at $5 shipping. Not sure it's worth it...You can still buy the rivet 9441669 from GM. For around $7.20 list price. YUP. Crazy crap. I'm sure you can get one from somewhere else for cheaper.
I got the correct size with the bigger heads coming in the mail. Steel like original. 25 in the pack for $10 shipped. It’s nothing special IMO.I've found $6 shipped from one of the few dealers if you bought 5 at $5 shipping. Not sure it's worth it...

Fleabay. Actually it was a bit less than 10 bucks. Not sure about quality. If it were a special size and finish, etc., I'd probably spend the coin and get a GM one, but since it's not...source?
