I've got an 85 Cutlass with stock springs and a 403. the ride height isn't bad, but wondering if I'm missing out on some handling with 30 year old springs with 198K on them. After alot of research, I'm leaning towards 5658 Moog for the front and 5409 moog for the rear. I'd like about a 1" lower than stock look. I do have tall ball joints in the front. I'd like a nice cruiser with handling, but not a harsh ride. Have single adjustable QA1 shocks now. Really would like coilovers, but they are really overkill for what I'm doing with the car.

Anyone running these springs that can comment on ride height?

What is the estimated weight of a 403 Olds compared to a smallblock Chevy? My friend just purchased a set of #5658's for his Cutlass wagon. He's hoping it would drop it a little bit. The car currently has a 307 in it, and will be getting an Olds 350 in the near future.
According to him, the 350 Olds is lighter than a 350 Chevy engine.
I'm waiting for him to send some pics of the car when it's back on the ground. When he does, I'll post the pics here.

So I guess it's looking like the Moog springs aren't that popular. How about the SPC springs part number 94390? They look like a good choice for a cruiser with a little more handling. Not looking for a kidney busting ride, but would like a little better handling with a slight lowering.

We sell 1" and 2" lowering springs for G-Bodys

Our front springs are wound from 5160 CrSi premium wire and feature a linear 600 lb/in rate. The rear springs are wound from 9254 CrSi premium wire and feature a linear 130 lb/in rate.

In a "nut shell" these springs are a little stiffer than factory rates for improved handling while maintaining a comfortable ride for the street.

Regarding small-vs-big block you will only get about 1/4" rake in the front if you have a big block.

If you have any questions let me know.

Hi. Just an update for anyone interested..... Ride and handling is great. Really the ride didn't change much, slightly firmer, but no float in the front end. The frame height in the front is 6 7/8" and the rear is 7 3/4". Some of which is due to the tire diameter difference. I'm wondering if anyone has used any other rear springs to get the rear level? So figure that that the tall ball joints in the front are 1/2" and the rear tires are 1/2", if you didn't have these, the car would sit just about level.

Thanks for taking the time to report back how this combination worked out for you.

I have Phoenix/Citation spring in the back of my GP. The had a pigtail on one end and open on the top end so they can be cut. I use the F body rear spring isolater which has a channel molded into them for an open ended spring. The moog part # is 5661
