For me and my family, minivans have been great vehicles. We've had minivans for over 20 years now. We've owned GM minivans over the years (plastic bodied Lumina APV and Pontiac Trans Sport, 2 Venture vans and currently have an '09 Uplander). I love the utility, and the sliding doors. I have one of the last GM minivans, since '09 was the last year that GM offered a minivan, and I was pretty bummed about that. The dealership has contacted me several times since I've had the Uplander, to see if I'd like to tade it in on something newer. I ask them if they have a new minivan available. They counter with something like a Traverse or Equinox. I ask them if it has sliding doors. That kind of stops them in their tracks. After that, the conversation usually ends quickly. I have a hard time understanding why GM discontinued their minivan offerings. Ford did too, but got back in a couple of years ago with the Transit Connect minivan-not very big, but at least its something. Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Kia, and I believe Nissan are still offering a minivan in their lineups. If they all feel that minivans are a viable vehicle, why doesn't GM? I'm sure that if the designers at GM were to put their minds to it, they could design something that would be competitive with everyone else. They seem to feel that all anyone needs these days is a crossover vehicle.
Anyway, rant over. Thanks for listening.
