On the two leads that go to the switch in the back one i can get continuity to the power plug leads and the other is dead. No continuity to ground or any other wire I probe. It like it broke connection and isnt hooked to anything

Just for kicks, can you run the motor in the opposite direction and then check continuity again to see if the same or opposite lead gets a reading?

Yes if you run it either direction the continuity is all the same. It is going to be scrapped out to make a nice copper ingot before i spend too much more time on a disposable motor
