i thought so too but my other 2 cars a 63 impala ss and a 84 regal have a 307 too but this one looks hella bigger
Might be a big block. What is the big letter on the recess between the water pump and intake, to the right of the oil fill tube?

I am going to say it's 307 Olds since I believe the larger V8 Olds used all 10 valve cover holes
It might even be a 260 Olds.
 
Suggest that car may have originally been an Olds 350 diesel - the hydroboost instead of a vacuum booster. Someone likely changed it for an Olds gas motor because the BOP transmission was still good. If the hydroboost still works, keep it - you can use a gnarly cam and not worry about low vacuum giving you soft brakes.
