Any disadvantages with having a t-top car?

I would tend to think the body would twist more with a high-torque engine. I could be wrong though.

This may be a stupid question, but are there any disadvantages with t-top gbodyies besides leaks?
As my old man used to say..." theres no such thing as stupid questions...but there are such things as stupid answers"...yeah...he was a smart a$$...lol

As for T-Top G's, the bodies are much more flexable, meaning you hear a lot more flexing in the doors and body especially when you go over a speed bump diagonally.....other than that, theyre GREAT!! I have a factory moon roof, but id prefer just a plain hard top...lot less trouble....Astro roof looks great but it will leak a bit when it rains really hard or when I forget to close it....

Drive a T-Top G-body over a bumpy road with the tops out and you'll find out just how much things move around.

I can watch my brother's A-pillars flop all around on a rough road. 🙁

Only way I would own one would be if I could redo the entire structure to add as much strengthening as possible.

There's also quite a bit more wind noise.

I think t-tops are cool but, It's another part of the car that'll cost ya. Such as seals and maybe rust repair. I read somewhere that the body twist will crack the seam between the roof and quarters right in between the quarter window and the door glass. Which mine has. I dont care tho I like the t tops and I have a garage to keep the rain off of it. Or shoud I say out of it!

I boxed the fame, upgraded the factory welds and pick up points..I would have done that t-top or not and the frame doesn't twist and the body doesn't move on the frame. It's all nice and tight and one of the cheapest upgrades I've done on the car

Well i have a 86 GN and all of the above apply. With ttops on hit a bump they rattle and sqeek annoying. But I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Don't suppose you have any photos or diagrams? I'd be interested in doing some of that while the car is all tore apart

I didn't take any pictures of the frame when I did it. All I did was use 14 gauge to box the centre c channel leaving an opening to insert the centre body bushing, cleaned and ungraded the shoddy factory welds which had to be welded with a stick, used some 14 gauge to brace the rear lower control arm location, welded large 1/2 washers to the holes for the bolts for the suspension and made new seats for the body bushings with 14 gauge and welded them in place..
