A thread came up on another board regarding pets, and it reminded me of my little buddy from a couple months back:
I rescued an abandoned baby I found half dead in early fall. I nursed the little guy back to health and eventually made him a home so he could go outside. He stuck around a couple months then took off just before the first snowfall (which was also just before we left for vacation). Here's some pics:
He was under a set of stairs in a loading dock, and as you can see in the first couple pics he did not look very healthy and was very clumsy and dehydrated. We weren't even sure what he was at first - I went down to pet him with my gloves on and he crawled in my hand and didn't want to get off, I had to push him off with my other glove. As we were walking back to the truck, he started chasing after us, and after thinking about it, I just couldn't leave the little guy behind. I read up on baby squirrels when I got back to the shop and decided to buy the proper formula and pedialyte etc to nurse him back to health. Going by descriptions on the internet, he was about 5 weeks old when I found him, which was on Sept 11th. He'd eat on our shoulder/head and crawl all over us - he'd even jump over to you about 10' away if you clapped and held your hands out. He was super friendly and probably the best pet I've ever had - and I've had quite a few over the years. Be interesting to see if he comes back in the spring (if he survived that is!)
