A thread came up on another board regarding pets, and it reminded me of my little buddy from a couple months back:

I rescued an abandoned baby I found half dead in early fall. I nursed the little guy back to health and eventually made him a home so he could go outside. He stuck around a couple months then took off just before the first snowfall (which was also just before we left for vacation). Here's some pics:

He was under a set of stairs in a loading dock, and as you can see in the first couple pics he did not look very healthy and was very clumsy and dehydrated. We weren't even sure what he was at first - I went down to pet him with my gloves on and he crawled in my hand and didn't want to get off, I had to push him off with my other glove. As we were walking back to the truck, he started chasing after us, and after thinking about it, I just couldn't leave the little guy behind. I read up on baby squirrels when I got back to the shop and decided to buy the proper formula and pedialyte etc to nurse him back to health. Going by descriptions on the internet, he was about 5 weeks old when I found him, which was on Sept 11th. He'd eat on our shoulder/head and crawl all over us - he'd even jump over to you about 10' away if you clapped and held your hands out. He was super friendly and probably the best pet I've ever had - and I've had quite a few over the years. Be interesting to see if he comes back in the spring (if he survived that is!)

I was finally able to show my wife something on this site that she cared about. Now she wants one for herself. and I'm not allowed to shoot them anymore.

Wow man that's pretty cool. You got some neat pics there.Gotta let us know if he comes back.

I would have named him Foamy, after the foul-mouthed Flash animation web cartoon character on Ill Will Press. Still, a cool pet. The story reminds me of the parrot I found in my back yard this summer that befriended me.

Cute little guy.
My mom had a pet squirrel when she was a kid.
My dad raised a couple abandoned baby ducks, and they came back and nested in the back yard and swam in the pond the next two years.

LOL The reason I named him Jack was it was at the Jackson Triggs Winery where I found him... . ya, I'm not very creative 😀

haha i LOVE squrriels! (fried and breaded) lol jk too chewy...

but seriously, cute little guy there, great pics i heard they were agressive to humans and would bite the crap out of you given the chance, hope he comes back, that would be cool

My dad had one as a kid. He said when it was a baby it was fine, but the older it got the more aggressive and mean it was and eventually my grand-dad had to get rid of it because it was so mean and bit my dad and his brothers. One of my uncles still has a scar.

My dad couldn't remember if it was a male or female, but I'm thinking if it's a male then the shift in personality could be because of testosterone from sexually maturing. If that's the case, then a female might be fine, or a "fixed" male.
