I love the one pic over the BBQ. Looks like you were gonna cook him up for lunch.

Good job on the squirrel tree-house BTW !!

Personally I dispise the little buggars. We used to have an apartment in a house surrounded by Oak and Maple trees and they used to jump on to the deck and eat up all my garden and even chewed thru a window sceen once and made a mess of the kitchen. Had one get into the car once and couldn't find it's way back out either ( what a sight )

but seriously, cute little guy there, great pics i heard they were agressive to humans and would bite the crap out of you given the chance, hope he comes back, that would be cool

I was amazed at how friendly he was. He was by far the most affectionate/friendly pet I've ever had.

My dad had one as a kid. He said when it was a baby it was fine, but the older it got the more aggressive and mean it was and eventually my grand-dad had to get rid of it because it was so mean and bit my dad and his brothers. One of my uncles still has a scar.

My dad couldn't remember if it was a male or female, but I'm thinking if it's a male then the shift in personality could be because of testosterone from sexually maturing. If that's the case, then a female might be fine, or a "fixed" male.

Ya, I fully expect him to be much more "wild" if he ever comes back. I doubt he'd let me hold/grab him. At best he'd probably just eat from our hand.

LOL I never thought of that, but it does definitely look that way! The house was a last minute decision before winter hit as I wasn't sure what I was going to do with him (had him in a pet carrier which was too small). I also needed something to transition him to the outside world - if Ijust tossed him outside, he likely wouldn't have survived. I whipped it up in an hour or so on the back deck with scraps from the shed I built last summer. It was darn cold when I made it too!

I can appreciate people's hate for them too - I know some people who have had problems with them getting into their roofs and living there. They can cause some serious damage.

The worse thing that they have done to me is throw stuff at me when I am walking down the sidewalk  I have always thought it would be cool to have a pet raccoon, but they would probably be a huge hassle.

  That reminded me of when i was in fourth grade and i was walking home from school. A wicked rain storm had just passed and as i was walking in the street gutter i came across a baby squirrel. I picked it up and did the exact same thing you did. We nursed it and took care of it, eventually it got pretty big and it was as tame as a cat. Well we had it for a bit till animal control seen me with it on my shoulder and took it. 😢 bastards They said it could have given me rabies....... guess that explains the anger management issues my ex says i have. i also thought of the pet raccoon idea after a few beak-ins in my garage. But the little b*st*rd i found one day almost mauled me. So i figured it would be easier for me to sit in there with a bat instead. he he

If you have them from the time they are babies, then rabies likely aren't an issue... but I've heard it is illegal to have wild pets without a license.

As far as having any wild animal as a pet - if you don't raise them from a baby, they are not likely to be friendly.

Fatten it up and cook it,lol.

My neighbor hunts the damn things and eats them, I have never tried it.

Oh yeah and he is a southerner.

LOL it'snotanova. We have one here no one is allowed to mess with. He's our little outdoor pet. Been there for years in an old tree from what the neighbors say. He is protected here. absolutely off limits to any violence. He doesn't cause any trouble so why not!

No squirrel eaters here, yuck.
85_SS those are some really great pics, you did the right thing in giving him a chance at life!
Cute little guy! Hope he comes back.

Every once in awhile I get irratated because the little devils will get into our animals feed and I'll shoot them with a 220 grain 300 magnum. Needless to say, there's not much left after that.
