I haven't measured it out yet to see how much room i have ( i guess i can always angle them up for more clearance) but this is what I am thinking as an alternative to "wishing to find concert sound door panels", or modifying the door panels for bigger speakers. How many of you guys have done this? I am thinking of doing components this way. when i measure it out i'll let you know how big of speakers i will do (thinking 6'') , and how i do it. what do you guys think?

Using a componet system to break the sound up might work in that arrangment. But still think the sound would be a bit "whop-sided" ... know what I mean? I don't think it would sound equal for both ears. But I could be wrong. I personally think that 3-ways mounted under the dash on the drivers and passenger side would sound more equal.

But I'm not an audio guy, so what do I know.

They shouldn't sound too unatural, but for the time/ and effort i will try this before i hack up the door panels or try fiberglassing. I noticed alot of music generally has both the midbass playing together at the same time, and its usually just the high frequencies (tweeter) that alternates left & right (Correct me if i'm wrong about that). for this configuration i think components will sound better than coaxials.

as far as balancing out the sound, i plan on putting 6.5'' in the rear quarter panels to balance the sound even more if it is whop sided. Lots of people on those car audio sites, say "oh no ditch the rears, they are a waste" but i don't think they realize how the cabins of these cars really are. The quarter panels are actually not that far from the front seats, and aren't exactly extremely low, so i think you will hear a balanced sound overall due to location. also this will leave room in the trunk for a sub on the rear trunk shelf (without the 6x9/4x10 speakers getting in the way) if they do interfere with that space.
