Anyone Ever Modify an XBOX 360 To Use a Bigger Hard Drive?

I have been wondering this for a while. I can pick up a broken hard drive pretty cheap off of E-Bay (less than $20) which will have the case and cables needed to connect a hard drive to my console as a simple plug and play operation, but I do not know if it will be formatted right. I am wondering if this is possible? Paying the price Microsoft wants for their hard drive seems a little steep to me considering how cheap a generic hard drive is. I figure I can make a 320gb hard drive that looks stock for about $80. I just have no idea if it will actually work. I am thinking of doing it for Forza 3 when it comes out as it is rumored to need 2 discs to run it.

(I play with anything technical, and figure someone else here probably thinks like me in this regard too.)
