I am getting ready to repaint my 82 and I dont know what color it is. The trim tag and build sheet have a different paint code than the car is. The car was trimmed 77i, which is med garnet red. The car is not red but the car is copper color. It has not been changed and is 100 original to the car, maybe a mix up on the assembly line! Thanks for any help!

not sure how off the color is from mine but my 78 buick regal was originally gold metallic. I think the paint code was something like 68 gm.

The darker color is more a copper with flakes but it looks the same as my gold metallic paint when I matched them up.

This is a PPG color chip page for the Olds. Just scan down to 1982 and they show the code names and numbers along with color samples.

Another option is go to either a body shop or paint supplier who has a paint scanner. They can scan your paint and the computer will analyze the colors in it and show the paint formula to duplicate it.

Well today I went to the paint shop and we verified the paint as lt. redwood metallic. Paint code 72E, and of course they mixed it something different. Looks like a medium gold metallic.... Got to love it!
