Hello all,

New here and am excited to build my 2nd engine for an 82 regal I picked up on craigslist last week. I've been reading the forum religiously as I had knee surgery the morning after I had the car dropped off :-(. Reading about everyone's swaps has def helped pass the time and I can't wait to be able to walk so I can get started pulling the blown 350 SBC out of the car.

Anyhow, can anyone tell me the size of the bolts used to connect the transmission to the engine on a 350 small block? I need to get some similar ones from home depot to use to mount my block on my engine stand. When I was breaking down the engine I'm working on rebuilding from this car the weather started getting bad and when I hurried I guess I lost the bolts I'd been using.

Thanks for any help, I just need to know the thread size so I can go buy some longer bolts that fit through engine stand mounts.

Most engine stands seem to take a 3"-3 1/2" long bolt in the above mentioned size. I'd use a grade 8 bolt to hold the engine on the stand. I'm not sure what home depot sells for bolts but i'd guess they're only grade 5 at best, likey a 2.

tractor supply has good hardware, and a good selection. they also sell the nuts, bolts, washers by weight; homedeopt sells them each. if you need a lot of bolts you can save a lot by shopping at tractor supply instead.

Awesome, thanks guys. The last time I purchased them I got the grade 8 version that Home Depot sells. They seemed to work well, I just got in such a hurry I guess I left them laying on or around the slab I use to work on my vehicles and they've long since been thrown away.

Looks like the bolts are 2.5 inches long if you're using an engine stand from Harbour Freight.
