anyone know where and what kind of air cleaner I need?

my 1984 buick regal needs new toys, amongst one I thought id get a different air cleaner but i dont know where to look for one to match my 231, i feel like the factory air cleaner is not letting in enough air, now i know the standard 231 wasnt meant for racing but it feelslike she truggles to breather oh and i used the search but all i found were ones for V8s only.

help me pls!!! thanks guys! :mrgreen:

They used to make an adapter for those but I never could fine one. We cut the bottom out of a stock air cleaner and welded it into an edelbrock air cleaner like the one you posted. Had some matching valve covers too, looked cool but I honestly don't remember that much if any improvement in power.

now see i thought about doing that, but the thiing is i dont mind the top part its the bottom i dont like with that tiny little hole that barely lets any air in, if i had to mod it i would lop off that long piece and make more holes all around so more air could flow thorugh. :?
 
Flip the lid on your air cleaner and see if it helps

we just cut about a 6" round section out of the bottom of the stock air cleaner base to get the correct shape to fit the carb and welded it to the edelbrock base, basicly making our own permanent adapter.
