I'm fixing to put in a comp cam xe268h and am worried about the stock rockers binding. Some guys say the slot should be long enough while others disagree. I found a set of roller tip rockers for 40$ on craigs that I plan on getting. Anyone using these? Any great benefit over OEM or long slot OEM rockers?

They claim less friction with the roller tips compared to stock stamped rocker arms. Also, the roller tip rocker arms are generally stronger than the stamped sheet metal variety.
What brand are these, and what ratio: 1.5, 1.6?
I've been using Comp Cams roller tip rockers since they were introduced...1990. I've been using them ever since.

i have them. they're stronger than stock and cheap, that's about all i can say. i honestly think the frictional difference is minimal, compared to a stock. when i can afford them i'm going to a full roller.

i've had a cheap *ss set before on a motor and that b*st*rd would have atleast one that would slip off the push rod! , so you should just get a cheap set off stamped steel long slot rocker arms, they'll work fine until you ready to upgrade to a full roller. Thats based on the set that guy is selling is a super cheap *ss set.

In the book put out by the late, great John Lingenfelter, he states that there is usually enough valve spring pressure to keep the roller tip from actually rolling. Unless they've already been changed, stock rocker studs are 3/8". If you've still got the stock rocker studs then these won't work. If you have to buy new studs to make them work then any $$$ saved will be spent on the new studs.

If you do still have the stock studs, check out Summits stock style long slot rockers (SUM-G6800) for 3/8" stud. $42.95 brand new. Doesn't state max lift but should be good for the XE268 cam if it's a flat tappet. Includes new ball and nuts  With a cam that size, there really is no need for 7/16" rocker studs.

I have 3/8 studs but they are screw in studs. I'll have to double check when I head home. The guy has a set of comp cam roller tips for 3/8 studs but he wants 50$ used. I might as well just buy the long slot off summit for that price. Or I can see if the stock rockers will work.

I'd stay with the 3/8" studs and get the new Summit rockers then. *OEM* rockers might work but if they don't then you'll have added down time getting the long slots anyway. Used rockers may have unseen cracks in the ball area and with a higher lift cam and possibly higher spring rates they may fail. I'd get the new ones and for $43 it's cheap insurance!
