Are all gbody steering box mounts the same?

to clarify, as long as you have an 800 box the pitman arm for it will work with other 800 boxes from different applications, yes?

Yes, any 800 arm will fit another 800. But the Pitman arms for our cars are different than others as the length and bends are unique. Someone posted that Blazer arms are the same but I never checked them side by side. My car had the 600, it leaked, and I swapped in a manual box for a while. The Pitman arm fit perfectly. When I put the Firebird 800 box in, the arm was way different and it took a while to find an A/G body arm.

I would like to add that don't limit your searches for just the performance versions of our cars, my 83' Monte CL came with the F41 suspension package from the factory which included the quick ratio steering and larger sway bars, etc.
I was going to swap in the box from a 88' Monte SS that I striped and then realized everything on my car was the same as the SS.

Good point. If you know that a particular car was factory equipped with the F41 package, it will more than likely have the quicker ratio steering box.
Just need a sharp eye and know what you're looking for. I guess it would only be the build sheet that would indicate having the F41 package?

Go to a junkyard and get one with the pitman. The good one has the 4 bolt cover on top where the preload stud and lock nut are. It's better then buying a new one and sourcing a pitman arm. There's not a noticeable enough difference to justify spending that much for the new stuff. There are reseal kits out there if the junkyard one leaks

i feel lucky then, my car is a base model but has an 800 box. at least i wont need to look for an arm when i change it out for an SS/GN box.

You can also score those same fast ratio 800 boxes out of 3rd Gen F-Body's...
For 15" wheels: These 800 series boxes have a "WS" stamped several times in a row across the aluminum cover in blue-ish purple ink, found on RPO Y99 suspension Firebirds/Trans Ams and WS6/WS7 '82-84 Trans Ams, F41 suspension Camaros and '82-84 Z-28s/base Iroc (not Iroc-Z)
The fastest ratio box for 16" wheels are found on all '85-'92 Trans Am WS6/'87-'92 Formula and '85-'92 Z28/Iroc-Z.
