Are these A body or "Cargo" springs?

I have this set of springs that came out of a 75-76 cutlass, the guy at the scrap yard gave them to me with the 8.5" diff I bought. I thought they were A body springs but upon further inspection I think they may be "Cargo" springs? Can some one help me out?

could be both. I seem to recall that the A&G were interchangeable for stock rear suspension and different for F41 Suspension. Either way those are definitely cargo coils.

Will they alter the ride height at all or will they just be a stiffer spring? I was hoping to get a 2" drop in the back to try and level it out a bit.

It's not too much work to just swap them in and see, but if they don't work UMI sells a 2" drop rear spring that works well I have them in my Monte.
Plus they are a smaller diameter which gave me more exhaust clearance.

I was looking at those on line; thinking of getting a set. I was just hoping that these would give me a drop in the rear since I got them for free 🙂. Your Monte Is Gorgeous btw.

I would think they are the same ride height. For the 15 mins it would take to swap them out just try it 🙂

and when you try them don't bother bolting up the bottom of the shock till you see if you like the ride height.

66 and earlier A-Body's had a bigger diameter at the top of the spring.

To my knowledge in 67 the early year models had the larger diameter top like the 66 and earlier, In mid production they started using the small pig tail on the top like the lower.

So basically 67 1/2 year model A-body cars have the same rear springs as the G-body

Well I finally gave them a try... no go. I was hoping for a 2 inch drop (wishful thinking) or no change in ride height at all. I quickly realized that it was for sure not going to lower the car when I compared the springs coming out to the ones going in. I gave it a shot anyway. The original height from concrete floor to top of the wheel well was 28 3/4"... my height is now 31" from concrete to wheel well. My GP is now a truck -_- 😛 oh well, I guess i'll just put the stock ones back in.
