I am putting a set up together for one of my cars. The hubs came with these thick o-rings. I see them in pictures on the GM Parts site. Do they go between the hub and the dust shield OR between the dust shield and the spindle?
My research indicates they go between the dust shield and the spindle. I'm not running Blazer brakes but purchased aftermarket brakes to use with Blazer dust shields, which required modifications to fit. I have rubber gaskets instead of O-rings and have yet to install the setup in the car but have mocked it up. The shields provide the 'squish' once bolted down, otherwise the rubber is just there.
From my build thread: "When it comes time for reassembly of the brakes and such there's a seal "required" between the brake dust shields and the spindles. It's up for debate whether its job is to somehow prevent grease from getting flung up onto the rotors or to simply keep things quiet by suppressing rattles but the general consensus is that using something there is necessary if running the dust shields."
Good evening everyone, I hope you're having a great weekend so far. I started my new work schedule yesterday and was too worn out afterwards to focus enough to get this thread going like I'd hoped. I think I can pull it off tonight, please read on and find out. I swear on my life that every word of this story is absolutely 100% true, and honesty is a cornerstone of the life I'm trying to build for myself.
I recently acquired a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham for the paltry sum of $2k, A.K.A. "two large" from a nice gentleman who actually lives a mere 5-10 minutes from me...
