so I've got the 85 Monte and an 8 month old baby. I want to put his car seat in it so we can do stuff as a family but obviously the old gbodies don't have the modern LATCH system anchors in it. I was thinking of having my buddy weld some in. Any thoughts???

same here i have a 7 month old lil girl. and she rides n the middle of my back seat. i did use the selt belt. i actually do have some metal tabs welded but i dont really like how the car seat sits so high so i use the selt belt. but if i do go on long rides or get in the freeway. i do use the anchors..shes my first baby. so i wanna make sure shes safe

My first was well. Like the ride BTW. So you use the seatbelt strap to go around the inside of the seat? I was thinking of adding a top anchor somewhere on the speaker deck to give that third anchor. Something like that anyways. Maybe in the back of the trunk to and run the strap behind the seat.

Could you just use the center seat belt in the back seat to hold it in? That's where I have the child seat in my Regal, and we got rear-ended and everything worked just fine.

Whoa, you got rear ended? Glad to hear everything was okay! Did you baby make it(the car )?????

Yes, the car, the kid, and the wife were all fine. The bumper got tweaked a little and the taillight lens was broken, but nothing major.

I have a 5 month old little girl, and she spent the 4th of July in the 442 with my wife and I. I used the center belt to strap down the base for her car seat. It worked fine rear facing. I have an older child who still requires a seat as well, and I am also able to use the center belt through that seat. You should have no problem. I have an 86 442 and everything worked just fine.

I'm not a violent man BUT if someone rear ended my car with my wife & baby in'it, they'll need police intervention to get my foot outta there *ss.. Might have to spend the night in "time out" & get released on OR..

You can buy the top anchor anyplace you can buy a car seat. Drill a hole in the speaker shelf and strap the kid in ! If they are older and in a booster seat they have to ride in the front where the 3pt shoulder belt is.
