Well I made a post in the general section about how I hopped back on to the site, bought back my 86 grand prix that I never wanted to sell, but had to at the time. Anyway I am glad she's back, and now will probably be spending time on the forum finding out little tips about my car and help if I can.

Apart from that, just was wondering if any of you guys have ran into a small issue I am having. My car has made a rattling noise while running ever since I first bought it years ago, it sounds like its from the dash area but possibly engine bay too. It is on the passenger side, sounds like something just needs braced or something. I haven't had time to look for it so was wondering if anyone could give me some tips of where to look. Thanks!

It may or may not be this, but i ran into a noise shortly after buying my 86 cutlass supreme...........10+ years ago and couldnt seem to pin point it either. The sound came from the same area(s) your describing and i found it when i put a dab of grease on the rubber hood stopper, up close to the cowl. WaLa it was gone and never came back. Try that for Sh*ts and see if its your issue also.

Is it a rattle or a squeak? Might be the middle hood bumper needs to be lubed. It's a common issue with these cars, I chased the noise for months and could swear it was coming from my dash, saw a thread about it on here put some grease on the bumper and hasn't made the noise since.

Heat riser?

No squeak at all just a rattle, its real annoying lol but thanks for the tips, I'll try that out when I get some time, thanks!

I know this is kinda simple, but could it be exhaust rattling? I'm having a rattling issue that's on the passanger side that I know is my exaust pipe rattling. Just thought I'd point that out. 🙂

Nah it doesn't sound like anything to do with the exhaust, it sounds too solid of a rattle and too high up

Ok well earlier I put a small bit of grease on all possible hood bumpers I could locate, but still have the noise. It was mildly quieter, but may have just been due to the warmer weather. I tried to get a quick listen, sounded like the middle passenger side dash near the door, but was not in the middle

No other possibilites you guys know of?
