I have heard of them eliminating the exemption in California ( I believe it's 1973 and older), and Schwartzeneggar is the leading politician who is for that. I am seriously thinking of finding a new political party affiliation for the next election. The Republican party has really let the people down who have been it's core support. Those of us who stand for less governmental intrusion into our lives have been pushed aside as they attempt to gain voters by trying to appear more centrist. From border politics to social spending to environmental over regulation, there really is no need to vote for them any more. I am a social conservative, a member of the so-called Christian Right who has always voted on the basis of my moral beliefs ( Pro Life, etc.).The way things look right now ,with the farce that is "Homeland Security" where we are inconvenienced at airports, but our borders are left virtually undefended, and the Medicare prescription drug benefit, can we really say they are doing anything good for our country? Additionally, there are many Republican politicians who do not stand for the social issues I believe strongly in, so why should I support them blindly in hopes that they will become the leaders that I want? I won't be voting Democrat, but I may consider a 3rd party like the Libertarians next time. I can no longer afford the wasteful spending and erosion of liberties that the Republican party now represents.
