Been a while.. 79 Calais Update

Well this weekend my friend and I took a break from both of our cars(he has an 85 Trans Am we're also working on) to get his Explorer ready for winter. So my ol' girl did nothing but sit this weekend. Hopefully next weekend we can start digging into it.

She's in the garage for the winter ready to be torn apart! Looking forward to actual progress on this thing. First up is removal of the vinyl top.

Boy oh boy did I screw myself. I sat down at my PC hoping to boot up some Mass Effect Andromeda to finally beat that game and on my second monitor checked out this site for any notifications. Hours later and the game is sitting idle and I've read through that whole thread haha. I'm super scared that I have that worst case scenario on my driver's side. I guess I won't fully know until we rip it to pieces. Your thread was priceless though and if I can fix mine with a quarter of the quality you've done I'll be super happy. I'm no body guy but I am in fact willing to learn and I'm not afraid to screw up for some hard way lessons! Thanks for chiming in, I really needed that motivation.

Merry Christmas to me!

I picked this up from a nice fella on the forum here, tommytpk. It's not perfect but I don't need perfect and I think it'll shine up nice after my buddy gets to it this week. Soooo much better than this right here:

Picking up POR-15 this week to hit up that gutted interior next weekend with some freshness. Really feeling the winter blues and need to get motivated! Happy Holidays to all of you out there!

Thanks man. I sure hope you're right haha. And yes! The egg crate front grill is what does it for me on this style. Second only to a Grand National as my favorite G Body.

Bought an electric fan also, that finally came in. It's probably going to just sit for now since body work takes precedence over anything else. I just wish it weren't so damn cold these past few weeks! Hard to do anything with frozen hands. Hope you all have a great New Years and stay safe out there.
