BEFORE and AFTER Anti Hop bars - w/pics!

help

Man, it was an hour at the track and then an hour driving home trying to figure out why it is slower. No clue. Any ideas out there?

The trap speed is about like before (trap speed is a function of power to weight) so the engine is unchanged, the culprit has to be these Edelbrock bars. My E.T. was MUCH worse than the last time I raced, 60' was HORRIBLE.

If you've never had this happen to you (add perf. pars & then run slower) be thankful. Very frustrating. Same thing happened to me in my little 5.0 Mustang a few years ago.

i had a hell of a time with some ssm lift bars
pinion angle ect swapped back to oem and new bushings and all is good now

Need more info. Shocks? Tires and pressures? What were the 60' times? Change anything between runs? Same burnout, stage rpm?

Also, what's the car got in it? Engine, trans, rear end gear?

I don't really want to get into nit-picking my setup, basically the car is unchanged as far as tires, pressure, shocks, rear gears etc etc etc

I want to figure out why my times are worse.

new Monroe stock shocks
Nitto 555r 245 50 16 Drag radials @ 20 psi
same burnout, same staging etc
LQ9 6.0
700r4
3.23:1 Auburn posi

Yes I know people have opinions about all of my specs, what I am trying to figure out is how these anti hop bars brought my 60' from around 1.9 down to 2.2 -2.3

The reason the car had worse 60' is because the rest of the car doesn't work with the changes you made. For example, putting a high stall convertor in a car with 2.14 gears. The convertor may be good for better launches, but it doesn't work with the rear gear

How did the car react? Did the rear raise faster than the front? Did it plant the tires then spin? Spin from the hit of the throttle? A video would be most helpful.

Because the car is separating in the back now, you have to control the rate of separation. Stock shocks are good for stock. You're not stock anymore.

There is no "silver bullet". The whole car has to work together. One change affects another part of the car.

VERDICT!

I got new Drag Radials and the car dead hooked and pulled a 1.7 60' on the way to my best time ever: a 12.4

I've decided they work and I'd recommend them.
