Black Max Air Compressor

I can't read the tag on the side to see the CFM rating, go to some websites to get the CFM of spray guns and be sure the compressor exceeds it and you will be fine

Also, don't just buy something that will work for just one thing you plan to do. Make sure it works for anything you may want to do in the future.

No one who has bought more air compressor than they need as ever said "I wish I would have gotten a smaller compressor" but I can guarantee that EVERY person who buys a compressor that is just barely enough for what they wanted has always wished they had a bigger one. 😉

I would look for a 2-stage compressor with an 80 gal tank at a minimum personally.

I have a 2-stage 80 gallon 240v compressor from Craftsman that has worked really well.

Just remember, if the compressor ends up running all the time while you're painting it's going to get hot. When the air gets hot it gets a lot of water in it that you will need to try and remove before it gets to the gun. This is where a compressor with a larger tank capacity comes in handy. You'll be able to go longer before the compressor kicks in.

I got a craftsman pro 27 gal. I does just about everything I need. Didn't have 220 line to the garage so this was my choice.

I couldn't agree more, my first air compressor which I thought was more than adequate when I bought it was 5 hp Craftsman 60 gallon direct drive and though it lasted many years and under limited use worked well, I found out how low capacity and underpowered it was when I was cutting floor boards out of my buddies Caprice with a continuous running cut off wheel (pre plasma cutter days) and I would actually have to wait for the pressure to build back up because it would just run out of power to cut.

Now I have a belt driven 7.5 hp 2 stage 80 gallon (vertical) 240 volt compressor and this has worked very well but I also get that sometimes you just need something that does the job at hand especially when your are on a tight budget but keep in mind that if you stick with this hobby or job you will be upgrading at a later date.

I'd love to have an 80 gallon but I can't quite afford one right now, my plan is to start with a used 60 gallon and upgrade later to a brand new 80 gallon that I can keep for years!

Do you paint with this compressor... I plan on painting my whole car later this year and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need a lot of air cause I'm a rookie!

Yep my car is paint mode right now. It kept up with the da with no problems. Sprayed with no problems. Got a hose reel and a oil water separator from harbor freight.

Cool I might look into that one before I buy the larger compressor!

I would buy the biggest baddest *ss compressor you can fit and afford.
