As the title suggests, I'm wondering what product to use to black out the trim around the quarter windows, without removing the window from the car. I currently am using vinyl electrical tape, and cutting it with a sharp razor, then heat gun it to promote adhesion. It would be to difficult to try and tape it off and paint it, so I kinda eliminated that from the list. Any other ideas?

if your going the tape method I would get something more out door friendly, the electrical tape is just going to fall off when the sun hits it and make a slimy mess. Most auto parts stores carry a exterior vinyl that is for re-blacking out trim piece that start wearing to the metal. I would just make sure to clean the rubber really well then try that.

SEM trim black works great. However, you have to prep the stuff your painting really well as it wont stick to anything irregular. I did my headlight bezels 3 years ago and besides a few rock chips they look just as good as the day I painted them. I painted some widow trim on my Jeep about the same time with just some rustoleum since it was cheaper and I didnt want to spend all the time prepping it and its almost all chipped off by now.

the chrome ring can be removed without removing the window. Just remove the inner panels and the speed nuts that hold the ring on and push the ring out. It'll turn out much better removing the ring so you can paint the complete ring and not have a paint line that will probably chip
