I want to upgrade my brakes in the monte. I am running a 15" wheel and ideally would like to keep them, so ls1 conversions etc are all out of the question. the late models blazer upgrade that uses the hubless rotors seem like a viable option, but ive been reading alot of conflicting information as to if they fit behind a 15" wheel or not.
also, I love the stance of my car and want to avoid altering ride height, so maybe someone whos done the swap can comment on this. currently the car has 2" drop spindles, and something is telling me the blazer spindles are gonna raise the car up. I also have the car lowered a little with springs, so i dont want to have to make up for the taller spindle in spring height because i dont want the rough ride or be wiping out balljoints, and drop spindles for a blazer with sealed bearings are 400 bucks.
ideally, it would be awesome if i could just buy brackets to mount the blazer dp caliper to a stock gbody spindle, this way i could keep my drop spindles and just have my rotors machined down to just the hub, but i havent been able to find such an animal.
basically what im getting at, is i want a very subtle brake upgrade at a cheap price. its not an aspect of the car im really interested in going crazy with, more than anything its just becoming a neccessity because of some of the higher speeds the car is seeing, so im open to any suggestions. its a real shame i cant find a nice write-up on all the brake upgrades available for gbody cars, the information is all out there but it seems to be scattered around in little snippets. maybe someone can give me some guidance, thanks 🙂
