I don't know if my situation was typical, but my 1988 Cutlass with a 307 always had an unusual idle. At a stop, it would idle up (faster) and then idle down (slower). It was noticeable. The oxygen sensor blew the center section out and I went to the local parts store. They told me Bosch was the best. I installed it and the idle straightened out completely. It now sits and idles smoothly when it is stopped. I don't know if the old oxygen sensor was original or a replacement. It looked different than the Bosch.
