The 455's with the C heads and 2bbl carbs were known as the turnpike cruiser package, intended to haul those big full-sizers down the highway while being "economical"... Should make a great core for your build.

BTW, a '69 w-30 would have a 400, not a 455...

Just an fyi, a w-30 didn't come in a 2 barrel, the 2 barrel with the c heads was more than likely the delta 88, toronado, bigger cars. The c heads are also more than likely the smaller valve size because of the 2 barrel. The engine itself is a basic 455 but to get any performance out of it I would go with the larger valves, 4 barrel aluminum intake some headers would be good. Most of your work should be on the top end to get anything out of it performance wise that is. Good luck, if you decide not to use it I could use a spare.

Damn you pulled a better deal than me..., I bought the entire car(1976 4 door Olds 98) for $150. Pulled the engine and scrapped the rest.
I wish I had access to a machine shop. And yeah, you'd think you can lift it with 4 or 5 hefty guys..., like you, I learned the hard way too. lol!
Can't wait to see progress on this. This should be very interesting.
