I purchased an 86 Monte Carlo SS with a 5.3 LS swap. Owner said he did the swap from a 99 Silverado doner with less than 100k, and did it years ago before LS swap parts become widely available.

He says the radiator fan needs to still get connected - the relay is there but he says it needs constant power. Is the relay supposed to get constant 12v?
He used a PSI conversion PCM and harness.
The fan appears to be stock. Should I be looking to upgrade this fan? Engine setup looks stock.
Transmission he says is a 700R4. The transmission does not shift up unless manually shifted. He says the linkage of the transmission needs to be connected?

Here is a photo of the engine bay:

I am confused with the stock on the fan, our cars stock don't run electric so I am guessing since he says it needs wired up still it is stock for the truck it came from? Really depends on what is there for both rad and fans on what you should do depending on how you plan to drive the car. LS's run hotter than SBC so could possibly be fine with what is there, but if I were doing it I would go with an aluminum rad and the interpid fans to get your best bang for the buck. That will allow you to drive it in very hot weather while in standstill traffic and not have to worry about overheating which honestly is pretty unlikely in most cases anyway but I would say to always plan for the worst when expecting the best.

The car has an electric fan installed. The fan's relay needs to be wired up. Where would you get the temperature signal from? And it would need constant power? Where would you take that from?

Also the TV cable needs to be hooked up. How would you attach it to the throttle body?

Would you secure the cable to the same bracket as the throttle body cable?

If you do have a 700R4 you will need a TV cable hooked up to the throttle body to control line pressure, toggle switch for converter lockup at minimum if I am remembering correctly. Guy in this thread made his own brackets for the 700R4 https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversi...-how-hook-up-kickdown-tv-cable-700r4-ls1.html
It looks like there used to be a kit (maybe still available) from Bowtieoverdrives to connect the TV from the 700r4 to the throttle body of the LS engine.

Would this be the right kit?

Personally I would def upgrade the fans to a Intrepid setup, for the price you can't beat what they can do and also come with a dual speed setup. I run mine through my Edlebrock to control it, depending on how you have the LS setup it should be able to use the tap into the block to get temp and your harness will have a constant power you can tap into for it. Even with prices going up on them since I got them, they are still hard to beat for the price
