popped a brake line last night . it is the metal line that goes from the front to the back. was looking into swapping out all the lines with stainless lines. which kit do I get to fit a 81 wagon? everything is listed as 2dr or el camino. are all my fittings metric or standard thread? are there any other pieces I should replace while I have everything apart.

also what is available semi budget wise to upgrade the front brake calipers?

The stainless is nice, but I've heard some people say that its harder to get the joints totally sealed, because the stainless tubing is a harder material, and doesn't "crush" as easily as a milder steel would when its joined with a fitting. The 2 door or "coupe" kit SHOULD be correct for a wagon. the only vehicle that had a different wheelbase was the El Camino.
As for caliper upgrades, I think SSBC makes a dual piston replacement caliper that bolts to the stock G body knuckle. Also, there is an aftermarket replacement caliper that is equipped with a larger piston, for more braking force on application. A set of stainless flex hoses might be a worthwhile upgrade as well.
Maybe someone else cam chime in on the caliper availability. Good luck.

You hit it spot on. If you make our own stainless steel you will need a flairing tool for ss lines.

As far as brake upgrades you can go with the s-10 blazer swap which requires spindles, caliper and sealed bearings. There are also oversize calipers for the gbodies that look like the factory brakes but they are 2.75 inch.

These lines should work. I would call to confirm.

thank you for the help and advice. I might just go with the mild steel lines to avoid any issues with leaks and seating. has anyone dealt with classictubes or inline tube from ebay or through their website? how is their quality?
