Well a rod started knocking in my Sonoma Saturday night, so Sunday I spent all day getting the wagon up and going again because its my only option.

So after getting the carb adjusted, brakes bled and interior put back in I took it for a test drive. Well it's bouncy as hell, and I heard a rattling sound on right turns. I did some investigating and found this...

Driver side front shock.

The questions is how do I go about fixing it? And while I'm at it ill replace all of the shocks. What are you fellow wagon guys using, what's you favorite brand, and model number?

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm a little confused to what's going on in the picture, but what it looks like to be is one of the mounting "ears" at the bottom of the shock snapped. Those will come with the new shock if that is your question. The piece of ear should come out with the mounting bolt. Did the head snap off the other side? You can drill it out or it might come out with the little clip that has the threads for the mounting bolts, I don't know what it's called. I used KYB gas-a-just shocks on my el camino, good middle of the road shock, they have a cheaper line too. They ride very nice, the monroe sensatracs that were in it rode like there weren't any shocks in the truck.

Well I just ordered kyb gas adjust shocks from rock auto. Came out to $140 shipped. The install may be the start of my build thread, as I hope to be fixing up other things in the coming weeks since I'm going to be driving it again for a while.

"looks" like you have a snapped off bolt on the left side. youll probubly need to use some heat and an easy out. I would definatly use some heat on the others before trying to take the bolts out. it's very comin to see broken shocks like that ide say im fixing those weekly!
