buick 231 crank rotation? 82 regal

hello. Getting ready to set timing on 82 regal< just need yo know if dist turns clockwise then cam and crank turn ccw right? Thanks. Almost running now!

Which way the distributor turns has nothing to do with the direction the cam/crank turn. The gears that drives the distributor is what determines the direction the distributor turns. (i.e. a chevy engine turns clockwise as well as the distributor, an Olds engine turns clockwise while the distributor turns counter clockwise.)

the dist. turns clockwise as does the crank.

Thanks, but heres a new problem. We werent getting spark so we pulled the dist. it wasnt turning and neither was the camshaft. So we pulled the timing cover off again and the new chain is broken, the cam is broken around gear bolt hole and 1 tooth is broken off the crank gear! WTF? Would the tensioner cause this? At this point we are way $$ in over budget on this project. any help is appreciated.
