Hey, Just wanted to drop you guys a note on what I found on these headers from Jegs.
Part number : 555-30060 made in usa

They were listed as compatible with 85 monte carlo 350 / automatic /column shift or floor shift. No manual.
I figured I can't go wrong here. Less than $120 for the painted version , got headers and did a test fit.

The driver side rear tube #7 cyl. Was so wide off the flange it was right in the column shift linkage. Took 3 hours
to modify the linkage so the transmission would go into all gears. Without mod only park, reverse, neutral could be engaged.
all of the tubes on 1,3,5 cyl were dead on in line. # 7 stuck out about 2" further for no reason what so ever.

OK now the passenger side, Even the fit was better it still had the same issue with the #8 cyl tube sticking way out past
the other tubes on 2,4,6 cyl. Luckily there is a gapping hole under the firewall for this.
why these were made like this is beyond me. I understand equal length and that, But I even called to company and asked
them about fitment of this product. I was told they don'y just throw them together- they are designed to fit !
Well they were about 5 hours and 30 curse words away from being correct. I did get them in and they will work now.
However they are being sold as a WILL FIT 78-87 G body 265-400 SBC column or floor shift automatic.
I sent them photo's of the (it hits here ) in hope that they fix it for others who may get the nod to buy these.

careful !!!

Companies just don't care that their products suck. They refuse to admit their products aren't what they claim them to be and will cry 'user error' if you complain about it. They will always deny anything could possibly be wrong with their product even if you have 100% proof. Why? Because they simply don't ****ing care. The buisiness model of today is 'build cheap junk and sell alot of it while not caring at all about customer satisfaction nor about their future buisiness'.

On another note, anything in the 'too good to be true' price range is almost always too good to be true. This goes double for headers.

Thanks for confirming that JEGS doesn't make a quality header for our vehicles. Hopefully this will steer many away from them. This doesn't really surprise me, however. As DoubleV said, companies like JEGS probably don't care if their products aren't high quality. Ultimately, they know the mass public will still buy it and that's all that matters.

I hope you can at least make some decent use of the ones you received.

Most parts from Jegs or Summit that have their "Name" on them are made by other companies, like summit's gears being made by Ridhmond, heads by Brodix just to name a few.....But like already said, you pay for what you get...You would think though that even though the quality might not be the greatest, they should still fit as claimed.... WIth headers though you woulda been better off spending a lil more money in the longrun...least you got em in now..thanks for the heads up 8)

when I called them they put a tech guy on the line for me to talk to and he assured me it would be taken care of.

Last I looked they are still on the site for sale at the same price and verbiage as before. so sure they most likely will sell off
all the old stock even if they do fix the issue. I was told these were made by Heddman For Jegs.

If it was not for the tubes sticking way out on 7 and 8 they would be a nice pair of headers for the money.

I know If I was selling headers to the masses this would not pass my quality control criteria ....

Hey all just a follow up on the jegs header issues. I purchased a flow master S bend 2.5" diameter exhaust kit to help
with the collector back hookup. I incorporated an H pipe kit from summit racing just behind the transmission cross member
which yielded a 12 " distance between the two pipes on each side of the drive shaft. I was still able to use the Patriot side pipe mufflers to finish out the exhaust ending in 3" diameter chrome turn downs just before the 10 bolt.

It was a bit challenging but worlds better than the old Shorties that were an absolute nightmare to hook up to the side pipes.
The 30 degree angle exit on the collector flange of the old header was nearly impossible to find bends that would work.

At least the Jegs headers collectors run straight back toward the rear axle. Only the passenger side was little bit bothersome.

On my monte the problem was the column shift linkage and the #7 cyl header tube. It's a 350 / TH 350 combo.
Maybe with the 200R4 or 700 transmission these problems would not have arisen .

On my car it has the aftermarket performance boxed transmission mount which added a bit of interference
right where the passenger side collector exits just before it. The 4 inch offset tubes from Flow master worked really good.

That could be the problem. I'm running a stock crossmember, and a 383/700R4 combo.
