Buying a car long distance

the car is never as good looking as it is in the pictures, just putting that out there.

My story...2summers ago, my dad went, my mom, and drove from philly area pa to Tennessee for a 72 dodge charger, we get there and it looks nothing like it did in the pictures, and was not fit for the drive all the way back like he had said. The car practically had no breaks.

Personally, i would never buy a car without being able to inspect it up close and in person.

I guess I was really lucky. In 2007 I purchased a Cutlass from a guy I did not know who lived in Ohio. I am in Texas. I saw the car on his internet site and called him to discuss it. I asked a lot of questions and he seemed to be an honest guy to me. So I sent him a check and a few days later he put the car on a transport truck for me and it made the trip from Ohio to Texas. Car was just as described--beautiful.

Buying a car long distance that you haven't physically seen can be scary. But try to determine as best you can the honesty and integrity of the seller by asking lots of questions. Also, if the seller doesn't have all the pictures you want to see posted on the website, ask for specific pictures. Best of luck!

Well I updated my list of possible cars today, I think I will make a few calls this weekend. I need to write out my questions and pictures I want before I call so I won't forget anything. Are there any G-body specific questions or pictures I should be asking?

Ask a lot of questions and see how detailed answers you get and how many I'm not sure or too many umm's. I drove 3 hours and rented a uhaul trailer. The guy was detailed with answers and told me what he was and wasn't sure of. The car was near mint with the only rust bein on the rear rails. The car was 100% as described. I made him an offer over the phone contingent that the car was in the condition he said it was.

Most times you can tell if someone is being sketchy. If you feel uncomfortable or have the doubt in your mind that you may not get what is described and feel it may be a wasted trip I would look locally.

Good Luck with your search

Joe
