Yeah, I agree that the early Monte's look good, but I only like the single headlight front ends. The dual headlights don't look as good. My all-time favorite is the Malibu coupe, and I wish I would have bought the rough, rust free one I could have bought years ago for $250. It even had a SBC (267), so a swap would have been easy. OK, sorry for hijacking....
The Buick has the 8.5 rear and a good 200-4r. The "hot air" can be made to run 12.90s for cheap but get expensive and more difficult to make them any faster. Also good low 20s mileage. I like the lines of the early Monte as well but when you look at the rear the transmission and maybe motor stuff Id get the T-type. I alway though a license plate of "uncool" would be cool as they have no interoooler.
so i brought the 85 t-type ran a vin check came back clean car has 89k miles brought it from the second owner who purchased it in 1993, at 38k
miles drove it untill 1999 and parked it in the yard.the body is straight but
it has rust at the top of the qaurter windows no rust in the doors runs good
but idling high.needs filler panels oh i talked him down when the wife came
out she wanted it gone. this car has split bench seat no options except a/c
and tilt.going to give it that gn look.
well i brought the buick so i can have someting to drive when the cutlass goes in for the motor swap,so i am going to drop the buick off to the body shop for paint work anyone order from gbody parts how is the shipping
i want to order the fillers from them and fiberglass bumpers.anyone intersted in the monte i would take some pictures and post them.56k miles
guy has all the original paper work even the window sticker.i sold my daily
driver which was a 2000 audi a4 to buy the t-type if i found another place to store a car i will pick up the monte its in excellent condition in side out.
It sounds like one of less than 200 base model turbo cars. I would think twice about altering it's originality, or at least do some research first. GM has a free service that will tell you about the car. I think it is GM Historic Services, but am not 100% sure.
Never heard of or seen reference of a turbo base model before always GN or T.
Cuttysalon, check out turbobuick(s) for good info on keeping that car running right. They can be fickle and haveing access to good info and a heads up on glitches can keep your ownership experience fun instead of frustrating. Also check out www.gnttype.org great useful site.
well i picked up the t-type today,to start its rounds of repairs first stop had to repair a brake line but still going to the floor so i will replace the master
cylinder .ran ruff first time i started it but ran good today, checked the underbody while on the lift driver side has rust hles in rear well be in the paint shop by the end of the week for repairs and paint.the car has the
t-type emblems also the vin number comes back thru autocheck as a
gn/t-type also it does have the concert sound, got some orignal paper
work in it but just glanced thru it.
