Camshaft Installed And Running

sounds like it's running around 500 rpm...

the sound of a v8 cammin at idle is the sound of pure beauty

That sounds wicked!!! My little 305 used to sound like that with tri-Ys at 500 rpm. I guess the stock 27 year old cam was worn or something because it didn't like idling at 500 rpm; it would get lopey especially after running it on a warm day and starting it up a couple hours after shutdown.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Really appreciate it. i'm thinking about running open headers or some exhaust dumps right after the headers. Havent decided yet because I did spend 140 to get the duals done.

That's a terrible idea for a street car, not to mention it's illegal.
A strictly drag-only car sure, but unless you feel the need to be hassled and ticketed by the police, than don't do it...

I drove my 442 around for a day or two with open headers until I could weld up the exhaust at school after I first installed a set on the 307 (installed them on a sat, no school till mon).

It may sound cool standing around while it idles, but the novelty will quickly wear off, not to mention the potential risk of damaging your motor or components under your car.
