I have two posi units. As far as I know they are both from a 7.5 10 bolt. They are both 26 spline. What is the difference between them? Which one would you use in your vehicle?

Well the 12-41 in the ring gear is the gear ratio ==3.42 What's the # on the other ring gear??? I might be interested in on if it's a 3.73. Or I could use my gears  What car are you putting these in? What gears do you have???

I am going to use one of these carriers for my 87 Cutlass. As for gears one carrier has 3.73's with a thicker gear I believe it is a 2 series. The pinion gear on that set is no good. The other came with 3.42's which I won't be using. I haven't decided between 3.73 or a 4.10 ratio.

The bottom pic looks like the one on the left is an Eaton, the one on the right looks like an Auburn. I'm looking for one, got to check my axle's but i think I have 26 splines, 86 monte ss. Hope one works for ya! 😀

The complicated looking one is a part-time post and is referred to as an S-10 posi. The one with the springs is a standard GM Limited Slip posi. The small springs indicate a cone type while there is another kind with a big "S" spring and clutch discs. The difference is that the part-time unit freewheels when not needed, and when one wheel spins enough for the centrifugal weight to lock up the clutches, it slams into action. It works great in mud and snow but is not for racing or other abuse. The standard Limited Slip is always ready for action and is a lot stronger but can be ruined if you try hard enough.

Go with the one on the right its the better of the 2. The gov loc or s10 posi on the left are notorious for explodeing. Also the gov lock I am almost positive is 28 spline. As most of the never 7 5/8 s10 posi units where.
