I have to repair the frame of a GP 84 for a friend.
The rockers are also dead, like many other places.
So I decided the easiest way is to lift the body from the frame.

I have removed the 6 bolts, the tank, wires, speedo cable, trans linkage, etc ..

I try to lift with an engine hoist, but it seems body and frame are still stuck together on the rear.
But I can t see anything holding it 🙁
What am I missing ???

Thanks.
Phil

I just did mine seems like there are about ten bolts all together. Two in the radiator support, two just behind the front wheels, two center, two just ahead of the rear wheels and two at the rear. Buy a good set of new bushings, my car only had 26,000 miles and they were still dry rotted.

I also had to remove 2 bolts about in the middle of the rockers.
There s just bolts, no rubber !
Of course, there s also the one for the radiator, but as I just wanted to flip the body, it was not really the problem.
Here s how I left it tonight.

The rear frame ...

I wish mine was that solid. LOL. That rear frame repair is in my future as well. I found a Monte in the yard with an unbelievably solid frame and floorboards. By the time I came back with the battery sawzall to cut everything free and have them lift the body from the frame, they had already lifted it, from the yard to the crusher. 🙁 Every other frame I've found is rotted away like mine. I've picked up some 2x3 tubing and it looks like I'll be fabbing a set of rear frame rails in the near future. I'm thinking I may look at the area next to the spring pockets to see if I can narrow the frame slightly to gain a little more tire clearance while I'm in there.

Looks like out '84's frame. We would like to replace ours with a Blazer's fame though.... (4WD)
