Had a look here and found a wire for the cluster harness but don't have an extra wire with filter from there to the distributor.

The Filter also steps the voltage down from the coil, so your tach doesn't burn out. I wired mine directly to the coil and it worked great for about a year, then my car stated shutting off randomly. went over everything in the ignition and fuel system(new module, coil etc.) then decide to check for a short to ground in the car, turned out my tach was shorting. I now run a GLOWSHIFT H.E.I specific filter and one of their tachs.

1986monte, here's where I got my tach filter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/75-thru-89-...Parts_Accessories&hash=item45fdef4dc9&vxp=mtr

Bracket and wire colors are a little bit different, but my car isn't 100% original anyway. Haha.

I originally bought a used one and it ended up being a dud, so thankfully I found these brand new reproduction ones on ebay (for less than what I paid for the used one, ironically). Works perfectly.
