1. It's better to keep the mid and tweeter as close as possible. And the best location for them is down in the kick pannels.

2. From my experience have the subs facing the back of the car.

3. And yes, a cheap set speakers is all you need in the rear. And you don't need a huge amount of power going to them. Only about 30% of what you have going to the front.



And one more thing. Figure out how much power you have going to the speakers in the interior. And make sure you have at least double the watts going to your subs.
 
I have the mids in the factory dash location ( tight fit ) and the tweeters mounted inside the heater vents. 4 x 6" on the package tray and 4x12" in the trunk mounted to the seatback.

It thumps pretty good, but it's they way the car was when I bought it.
