The problem i am having is that while i am driving if i step on the gas to hard the car seems to loose power and sputters. If I back of the trottle a little bit its ok then i can step on it again a little lighter. Engine is a sbc 305 edelbrock perf.intake,
summit full headers, no cats,no cam, flowmaster 40's and i think the carb is a edelbrock 750cfm(too big) trying to get a 600cfm timing is set to 13 degrees (mechanic told me that) any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated

i got the smae problem. but theres things wrong with my motor. i got burnt valves. it could be that not sure.

sounds like a lean stumble, and yes a smaller carb will help you out too. but for now i you'll have to play with your carb to get it right, im not an edelbrock guru so i hope someone will give you some better advise, also check for vaccuum leaks.

mine does that too but it jus does for a sec then goes away and theres a spot in the peddle bout a quarter in that does it cruising....ive got a holley 600 on a 350 though...you ever have trouble starting

also like when i come up the driveway and give the gas a tap it wants to kill and some time does

Check yer fuel pressure and check yer fuel line for leaks. This happened 2 me twice and the problem was a minute leak in the fuel line on the sending unit. The hole wasn't big enuff to leak fuel but enuff to suck air and make the car stumble. When yer on demand for fuel it uses the fuel in the bowel of the carb and instead of the pump suckin fuel tto fill the carb again its fillin it with air. Disconnect the line from the fuel pump and blow compressed air through check for leaks..

this never crossed my mind...thanks

just thought i would give my 2 cents , been a mechanic for 20yrs and this is a common problem, i would check the fuel pump and fuel filter. this is usally a sign of a fuel pump going bad.

When the car is cold fires right up also yesterday went to the store(down the street) at a slow cruise when it shifted to second it started backfired lol :wtf: is that about?????
