My car started squealing and was told my alternator was no good due to it not charging and when I would plug the pigtail in it would squeal bad very bad. So I bought a new alternator, belts and battery and I'm still having the same issue. I need help because my car is a daily driver and school starts back up Monday. Thank you gbf family.

So it's still squealing and not charging? Belt tension and alignment OK?

If it's still squealing, remove the new alternator belt temporarily and start the car. Still squealing? Then it's something else. Failing water pumps have been known to make noise.

Squealing is caused because of Rotational friction. Maybe its a pulley spun by the belt. Id forget about the belt/alt and any thing else that has been changed. You never know. Is the sound relevant to the engine rpm???

What engine is in your car?. The A/C equipped Oldsmobile 307 alternator belt is dependent on the power steering and A/C belts being tight. Have you taken off the A/C belt for some reason?.

Roger.

As soon as I plug the pigtail in it makes noise. I'm new to the sight and don't know how to post a video or picture

I'm guessing the car is set up for A/C but no compressor (alternator on the drivers side), therefore no belt?. That leaves you two simple options.
Fit a compressor and belt. You don't need a working compressor, just one that will spin freely.
Get the brackets to mount the alternator on the passenger side.
This is time consuming and expensive; do a serpentine belt conversion.

I think the belt layout on this engine is a terrible idea. This keeps coming up on all forums that deal with this particular engine.

Roger.

Is there a certain car I have to take the passanger side alternator bracket off??? Or can I buy a universal 1???? On a gbody Facebook page a guy said I would have to get the pulleys from a olds 350.

I've seen brand new Olds passenger side alternator brackets for sale on eBay. You could also look over at the Parts Place Inc to see what they have. They seem to have many new parts for 68-75 Olds..

Who ever thought that everything needed it own belts on the olds should be shot! You'd think that the General could have standardized belt drives across all brands. I love on the cutlass, one of the bolts to adjust the p/s belt is behind the pully!1 WHO DOES THAT? WHY
