LOL work truck is appx $200 to fill atm and at best gets 240 kms per tank so appx 5 to 7 mpg. Seriously looking at getting my tractor driver licence and buying another truck. I know my bigger truck gets 14 mpg rolling and can idle for days on $20 in fuel

4.5 liters in a "used-to-be" Canadian gallon. 4.5 x 1.92 = 8.64>> The American gallon is smaller, only 3.8 liters so your match does work for the US variant. Think they are still only paying around 6 ish bucks US per.
Yes I was aware of the different gallons but wasn’t sure how to correctly do the conversion so it would make sense for both Canadians and Americans
Crazy what we are paying , it made me second guess going for a drive With my dog today
We stayed home and played instead

I see a business opportunity here! print up stickers to stick to the bottom of the tank that say "Hi! You're being observed on camera right now. Prepare to have your balls blown off in the next 30 secs!"

as for commuting, I do 13 miles round trip twice so that's about 2 gals. but all the other driving for errands etc can add up.

Had a curious interaction yesterday. I listed 25 gallons of waste oil on CL last weekend. Got a call from a guy about 60 miles away who really wanted it. When he showed up he was driving one of those beat down diesel Mercedes that looks like a 3rd world taxi cab. He told me that both it and his old 6.9 F250 are converted for waste oil. He's actually stressing about fuel prices because he doesn't want more people to convert out of necessity. He's worried about competition. Made me all but pledge my future waste oil to him.

Some guys heat their shops with it here , great if it’s free but seems like it would be a hassle if it wasn’t

Way, way, way back when Stacey David still hosted his car show, one of the episodes was on how to convert waste oil to diesel. He used some kind specialty self contained "still" that did all the processing necessary to create useable diesel fuel. This has to be going on a decade on more ago. Anyway, they test ran the results of this processor in test mule and apparently it worked as advertised. The episode might still be around on You Tube if it was searched.
