Hello everybody, new to this awesome forum. Got a question I'm hoping you might be able to help me with. I recently purchased my first Cutlass. It's an 83 Cutlass Supreme with 80k on it. I got it from a 93 year old man. It has a factory un-molested 307 and factory single exhaust. What I am looking for is an inexpensive way to turn that single exhaust into a dual exhaust. I'm not looking for performance, I simply want look and sound. I want the two pipes coming out the back and I want it to sound tough and intimidating. I have very limited funds to work with right now. I keep hearing about FlowMasters, I would love one of those but I know I can't afford it right now. I don't want a full exhaust with headers, just from my catalytic convertor to the back. Any suggestions are welcome. Please help. Thank you to all who will respond.

Welcome to the site!! This is the cheapest way out. You have to get a straight thru muffler that can be installed either direction, with no specific inlet or outlet. I believe Flowtech makes a muffler like that. If you live where you can take the cat off get rid of it, it's gonna get ya alot more flow and sound. Your local exhaust shop can do this with 2.5 inch pipe. The picture is from the Walker catalog. Have fun with your new toy.

If you're looking for sound over performance, and don't want to spend alot, go with the Walker dual outlet system. It's the same as what came on the H/O's and 442's and can be gotten at most part stores.

Wow, great stuff! Thank you all for taking the time to help me with your knowledge. It seems like that dual outlet system is the least expensive way to go. I'll be looking into that and posting before and after shots soon. Once again, thanks for the quick responses. 😀

What's up everybody. I just wanted to update the post on my exhaust dilemma; I ended up going with a 40 series FlowMaster setup from the cat-back with the pipes coming straight out the back, underneath the bumper. I didn't really like the side pipe look. I also installed a high performance catalytic convertor for better flow. I have to be honest though, the sound is not as loud as i expected but it is a nice muffled sound. I was told that once i break them in the sound would get a bit deeper. Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone who responded with their thoughts and suggestions.

When I learn how to post pics, i will post before and after pics.

Thank you all.
