CB radio- yay or nay?

I say do it. I've actually planned to do the same for my 442, but I am going to do it a little different, and maybe this is something you could try. Since the radio openings is 2-DIN, I was going to get a single din radio, and a cb, and mount them both there custom. As an added bonus, Cobra makes a CB that is also bluetooth capable, so you can use it to make calls. I have that one in my truck and it works great.

You listen to these guys if you want...don't do that. That sh*t is old technology that's useless. So you'll have a cell phone and a CB.. Who do you actually know that uses a CB? (crickets)...Exactly...

I'm thinking about getting a vintage cb radio and vintage antenna for my regal. I think it'd look cool, kinda give the car a vintage 80s feel, but I don't want it to be corny. I'd probably never use it, I'm in the city of Pittsburgh, not southern Georgia. I'd get a magnetic base antenna, so I could remove it if I wanted. What's your guys' opinion?

"vintage 80s feel" ???? The 80's wasn't that long ago 😛

Um, ok, 30 years ago, last time I checked, that's a pretty good while.

wouldnt a police scanner be more useful in an emergency?

A police scanner would be neat, but cops don't necessarily like it when you get pulled over and they see that you've been listening in on their feeds. I don't think it's illegal, but nothing that I'm interested in.

I'm gonna go with a NAY on this and it would be, in your words "corny"...But we all have our likes and dislikes in the G-Body community, most inportantly it's your ride and your gonna do whatever in the hell you want to do with it 🙂 I love America!!! BTW, in New York police scanners are legal, however if you use one in the course of the comission of a crime, well that's not kosher..

This depends a lot on your local/state laws. And if you're an amateur radio operator, and what you think you can get away with. Most places, IF you're caught with one while doing something illegal they can also nail you for having the scanner as an additional charge. Having a license helps, since you can always just whip that thing out and hope that's enough. I've never had to deal with it. Yet.

I carry one, mainly to get around traffic tie ups on the commute, but it comes in handy for other things. Plus, as a ham, its just fun to dick around with. I always have a bank of local repeaters and airports in the scanner so if it came to it, I could just switch over and say, "uh no sir I was just listening to the 2m traffic and/or the airplanes."

None of that will stop ol Rosco P Coltrane from just being a dick and confiscating it anyway, and letting you take care of fixing it on your own time and dime.

I just had it up against Cutlass 'woodgrain' and it was maybe a shade off. I'm debating keep/ sell / trade.

Does it work? If it does, what do you want for it? That's pretty much what I'm looking for.
