Hey guys I'm trying to put my car back together and one thing I need is a center console because mine crumbled and fell apart. Now I was thing of doing what I saw some folks do and just go to the junk yard and get a console from a 4th gen camaro since I always see them there. I tried to look and find a stock console but a lot of folks just charge too much for them. I understand that why they want to charge the prices that they do but I can't justify paying the money for a console that pretty fragile....... So I did what any person would do in this case and went to Google and found this site called
www.Classictruckconsoles.com and saw a G-body Malibu with a nice center console that I guess a customer bought from them and it looked pretty good. Has anybody heard of these folks or dealt with them?

Never heard of them, but I did check out the pic of the 81 Malibu with the console. I like the way it looks and I might just consider using one to fab up a new console for my 442 because I will now have a Pro Stick in place of the stock shifter.

How do you like the Pro Stick?

Haven't put it in yet. I'm waiting to get my trans back from being built . But it seemed like my best choice for the reverse manual valvebody, since I'll be shifting all the time.

I bought a nice used stock console for $100 and then dyed it to match my interior. How much are you seeing stock consoles go for?

The reason I ask is that if you think one of these aftermarket consoles @ $175+ is a good deal, I can't imagine what kind of prices you've see a stock console for.

I've have seen them in the ranges of $150- $170 and like I said, I might as well pick up a 4th gen camaro console or get a aftermarket custom console. Heck I wish I could just make one but I don't have the room to do so since we live in an apartment.

Hard to beat the look of the stock 78-88 cutlass console IMO. I've picked them up for $15-30. Check your local junkyards and cars bein parted out on Craigslist !

All the the G-body cars in the yards I do see they either have column shifter or if it does have a center console it's messed up.

Hey guys I've found a Monte Carlo with a center console in it and it looks well kept but should I put a Monte center console in my 442???? I guess it really doesn't matter at this point the only thing is that I will have to dye it the same color as my interior.

If its cheap enough I would, if not I'd wait on 78-88 cutlass console. The monte console would look ok and would be better than a homemade one.
