Charging ac in g body

I learned from Dad to just put 2 cans in and watch the low side pressures with a thermometer probe in the vent on a 80F+ degree day. Keep adding until it blows cold (40F) and you are probably fine.
That is total old-school AC service technique. I know shops that still do it that way. 'Ooops- too much- let some out'. With the cost of freon what it is, that is just not cost affective. I use a cheap digital postal scale. It is accurate to two decimal points. I can put the exact amount in with no waste.

Do you know what product you used for the stop leak?
No. It was a long time ago and I got it from a real old school auto parts place. I wanted more but they had ran out. It was a thin black cylinder about the size of a big bratwurst.
